Product Manager (Brand Manager) - Somerset

Are you an experienced Product Manager (Brand) within Food Manufacturing especially in the dairy sector? Are you passionate about driving improvements and really making a difference within a company?

Here at Elevate RTC we have an opportunity for a Product Manager to join a leading dairy manufacturing business based in Somerset. You will be responsible for identifying, creating and delivering new products and innovation plans in line with the overall vision for the dairy brands.

 

This role will be working closely with the senior brand manager who will be there to support and guide the successful applicant. You will be responsible for generating growth within the brand and you will become an expert in the market and you will gain consumer insight and for the products. You will provide holistic marketing support across trade, consumer, online and offline across the market.


The role of a Product Manager includes:

  • Full accountability over P&L on the selected range, to deliver profitable volume & growth for the product group.
  • Track business & portfolio performance and implement changes to meet or exceed objectives
  • Tight management of the marketing budget for Product Management
  • Drive NPD delivery (from idea generation to finished product) and consider the longer term project pipeline, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget and work with the category team to communicate clear category leading message
  • Follow and manage NPD projects using internal processes such as Q-pulse and confirmation from the Technical department
  • Develop the annual operating plan, which sets the strategic direction for activities, and establishes priorities
  • Work productively with external agencies and cross-functional groups within the organization
  • Ensure completion of market analysis and monitors competitive activity
  • Work closely with Category and Sales Teams to identify and deliver new distribution opportunities
  • Work closely with operation, supply chain and finance, continuously monitoring performance and profitability of the product portfolio
  • Manage the product portfolio in retail
  • Execute brand activities identified in annual plans
  • Consumer communication - Advertising development, media planning and PR
  • Trade promotional strategy development aligned with sales department, providing appropriate promotional materials: coordinate, produce and distribute (including gifts to consumers)
  • Ensure sales teams are fully briefed on marketing plans and are implementing appropriate brand activity
  • Drive better understanding of marketing investment and return and improve commercial discipline
  • Act as the custodian of the brand- support and approve all product launches and activation across geographies
  • Market, product and trend analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Drive product strategy and develop 3-5-year product plan for the category.
  • Responsible for briefing and coordinating the development of new packaging or POS materials with a design agency.
  • Presenting new launches to Sales teams
  • Assess and enhance positioning of products and propositions within the market
  • Research and develop new product and proposition ideas that will enhance the customer experience

    Experience/Skills required
  • A degree or equivalent in Marketing and/or Business and/or Food or related subject
  • Member of the CIM is desirable
  • Excellent project management skills and experience of full NPD lifecycle
  • Experience of working for an FMCG business – desirable experience with dairy
